The 27th Annual Taste is Going Virtual This Year

Competition at its finest.

We are definitely in a “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” frame of mind. We are disappointed that we cannot host this year’s Taste. Such is life during the COVID-19 pandemic. But what we can do is celebrate the amazing restaurants that have supported us for more than two decades.

So, for the 27th Annual Taste we are introducing something completely different: the Taste 2020 Challenge. Join us September 28-30 as we broadcast three virtual episodes featuring six local chefs from some of our favorite restaurants competing to see who can be the most creative using ingredients found mostly at the Food Bank.

With a nod to the Iron Chef, we think these cooking competitions will be fun, entertaining, and maybe even slightly educational. Not only that, but we will be giving away a ton of prize packages that include gift cards to past Taste restaurants. What better way to celebrate 27 years of the Taste and support our local restaurants.

The Contenders

Our Taste restaurants, breweries and distilleries are always up for a challenge. Each year, they answer the call and prepare delicious food and drink that help make the Taste one of the most popular events on the calendar. This year, a few of our past Taste restaurants are stepping up in a big way to help the Food Bank host a very different kind of event. These six chefs from Austin's American Grill, Dominic's, Bistro Nautile, Blue Agave, Daddy Cakes Bakery and The Still Whiskey Steaks are going head-to-head in a three-night cooking challenge to demonstrate their culinary mastery, preparing meals using one secret ingredient and other ingredients commonly found at the Food Bank. Don't. Miss. This.
